Why Use a Dog Car Hammock?

A hammock slings between the front and rear headrests and turns your back seat into a flat, contained space. It stops your dog sliding into the footwell when you brake, it keeps hair and mud off the upholstery, and it stops a nervous dog trying to climb through to the front. For anything larger than about 12kg it is usually a better answer than a booster seat.

Types of Car Protection to Choose From

Full hammocks

Attached at four points and covering the seat back, the base and the footwell. The most protective option and the one to choose if your dog travels often.

Bench covers

Cover the seat only. Quicker to fit and remove, and a reasonable choice if your dog already travels calmly.

Two in one covers

Convert between a flat bench cover and a full hammock depending on whether you also have people in the back. Ours are around $55.

Boot liners

For wagons and SUVs where the dog travels behind the rear seats. A liner covers the floor and the sides, which matters more than most people expect, because the sides are where a wet dog leans.

What to Look For

Waterproof backing rather than water resistant fabric, if you ever swim your dog or drive in the wet. Non slip underside, so the cover does not creep down the seat over a long trip. And seat belt openings, so passengers can still buckle in without you removing the whole thing.
