Why Worming Matters More in Breeding
Puppies are born with roundworm passed from the mother and pick up more through her milk. A wormy puppy fails to gain weight, develops a pot belly and can become obstructed. Worming is not optional in a litter, and the schedule is tighter than most owners expect.

Milbemax allwormers
Around $14 for dogs under 5kg and around $31 for 5 to 25kg, with a 50 tablet breeder pack at around $180. Broad spectrum, covering roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm.
Troy puppy and kitten syrup
Around $15. A syrup rather than a tablet, which is far easier in a two week old puppy.
Nexgard Spectra
From around $84 for three chews. Combines intestinal worming with flea and tick protection, which matters on the east coast.
Fidos Closasole
Around $76. An alternative allwormer.
The Schedule
Puppies every two weeks from two weeks old until twelve weeks, then monthly until six months, then every three months. Adults every three months. A pregnant bitch should be wormed on your vet's advice, since not all products are safe in pregnancy.
Dosing by Weight
Weigh, do not estimate. Underdosing is the main driver of resistance, and overdosing a small puppy is its own problem. This is where a set of scales earns its money.
