Why Lubricant Belongs in a Whelping Kit

Sterile lubricant is used for internal examination during a difficult whelping and for assisting a puppy that is presented but stuck. Without it you risk tearing tissue that is already under strain. It is one of the cheapest items in the kit and one of the ones people discover they do not have at 2am.

What We Stock

Lubricating gel

Pet lubricating gel from around $2 for a single use sachet, which is the format most breeders keep in quantity.

Lubricating jelly

Around $90 for a larger container. Gentle and non irritating, for breeders whelping regularly.

Wound gels

Manuka wound gel at around $43 and bleeding control gel at around $25. Different jobs, but they live in the same kit.

Using It Safely

Sterile gloves, generous lubricant, and slow. If a puppy is visible but not moving, gentle traction timed with a contraction and angled downward is the technique. If it does not shift with gentle effort, stop. Force causes injuries that end breeding careers.

Know Your Limit

Internal examination and assisted delivery are things to be shown, not read about. Have your vet or an experienced breeder demonstrate before you need it, and agree in advance the point at which you stop and drive.

Trusted by RPBA Breeders

Members keep single use sachets in the kit rather than a shared tube, because sterility matters more than convenience at that moment.
