Large breed nails are thick, and a soft abrasive drum loses its bite on them within a few dogs. This grinder runs a diamond bit head instead, which is the same abrasive principle used on hard materials and holds its cut far longer.
Why it works
A diamond surface cuts rather than sands. On a Labrador or a shepherd that means fewer passes per nail and a shorter session overall, which is usually the difference between a dog that sits through it and a dog that starts pulling its paw back. The head is replaceable, so the tool does not become disposable when the abrasive eventually dulls.
It also handles dew claws well. Dew claws curl and are frequently missed, and they are the ones that grow into the pad if they are left.
For breeders

Using it
Work in passes of two or three seconds and let the nail cool between them. A diamond head removes material faster than a drum, so the same pressure takes off more nail. Ease off and check more often than you would with a softer abrasive.
Keep long hair clear of the head. Check dew claws on every dog, front and rear, because they are the ones that get forgotten.
