The simplest tool in the range and the easiest one to reach for. A single built in grinding wheel, USB charging, and a body slim enough to hold like a pen rather than a power tool.
Why it works
Nail trims go badly when they turn into an event. A grinder that lives in a drawer and charges off the same cable as everything else gets used weekly, and weekly is what keeps a quick receding rather than advancing. Nails that are done often only need a few seconds each.
Holding it like a pen matters more than it sounds. A pen grip gives you fine control over a small paw, which is where a bulkier tool feels clumsy.
For breeders
Good for puppy nails specifically. Newborn and young puppy nails are needle sharp and tear at the dam's udder, and they need taking off every week or so. This is small enough to do that without a production.
Using it
Charge over USB. Two or three second passes per nail, then move to the next and come back for a second round. Do not hold the wheel against one spot, because the heat is what the dog notices.
On white nails you can see the pink quick through the nail. On black nails, watch for the pale circle appearing in the middle of the filed face and stop there.
Related: dog clippers, newborn puppies and dog grooming supplies.
Want the one you will actually use? Small, quiet and charged off any USB cable.
